It did not take long for the land to recover, despite the severity of the famine. The rain evidently came in great abundance, and by the end of the year the people had returned to their homes and once more they covered all the land.

It is also true that prosperity returned quickly. This was likely due, at least in part, to the fact that great wealth had been left by those who had died in the war and the famine. Those left behind were able to claim this wealth and so each family would have had the riches of several close relative who had died.
