On October 12, 1492 was when Columbus landed on the Taino's land. This is when the Tainos offered them food and wanted to trade for weapons, Columbus dehumanized the Tainos and kept them captive. Columbus mistreated the people there and committed genocide to the people there. Some even committed suicide because of the pressure and trauma committed by this event.
