27 jun 1464 año - Songhay Empire (1464 C.E.-1591 C.E.)
Descripción:
The Songhay Empire existed where the Mali Empire had formerly been, and they used this to their advantage. They had an extremely elaborate military and often patrolled their rivers with their rivers with their large navy. The Songhays took a large part in Trans-Saharan Trade, receiving textile, spices, and other products in exchange for silver and gold. They governed with Islam in mind, building mosques and Muslim schools across their area. Songhay decline was due to the increase of Atlantic trade, as they were losing taxation money from Saharan trade. (4.3, 4.2)
