On this day Ecuador officially split from Gran Colombia, for similar reasons to Venezuela. While like many other South American countries it's seen its share of war and turmoil, modern Ecuador is a peaceful state with a high quality of life. It's also a highly environmentalist nation, and it was one of the first countries in the world to recognize the "Rights of Nature".Añadido al timeline:
