were organized with slavery determined by popular sovereignty, Texas’s boundaries
were established and the federal government assumed Texas’s debts from before their annexation, the slave trade was abolished in Washington, D.C. and the Fugitive Slave Act was
strengthened. These five things are the effects of the Compromise of 1850.
