The court case of Plessy v. Ferguson was a landmark Supreme Court decision that upheld the racial segregation under the “separate but equal” doctrine” The case came about from a black train passenger named Homer Plessy who refused to sit in a car for blacks. He came to the court saying his rights were violated. The court ruled a law that implies that a small distinction between white people and black people wasn’t unconstitutional. The Jim Crow Laws were created as a result of this case.
