Discussion about 4 questions.

1. The mood of this poem is strength and happiness. The singing is a sign of being in a good mood and in this case it is also being hopefull for the future. I think the singing could symbolize work and building The United States.

2. I think that Whitman describes different types of workers in the poem because he wants to show diversity and because he want to show that people can be in similar situations even though they are not at the same place. He also wants to strengthen the feeling of nationalism, he wants to show that in that country they work hard for eachother.

3. I think Whitman feels greatly for America. He feels that America is a strong country with a lot of hard work and that the people work together to build a greater future.


Answers to questions for Oliver Twist

1. We get to know that Oliver is resally starving because the boys only got a porringer to eat at mealtime if it wasnt a special occasion.

2. Oliver was choosen to ask the master for more food.

3. Oliver's request such a commotion because he was super hungry. I also belived he did it because he wanted to get out of that place.

4. I think that superiour things will happen to Oliver in the future. I truly belive that he will find his way to a better life in the end.

5. Charles Dicken is critizing the system which were common at that time. I think that he didnt like the fact that sometimes children were seen as goods.

6. I belive that this story still is up-to-date because this type of problems still exist today. First of all there is still millions of people that suffer from starvation today. Second of all slavery still exist around the globe and people are seen as an object that could bring profit.


Answer to questions for Tom Sawyer

1. He feel miserable because it was Monday and a new week in school was around the corner.

2. I do not often feel like Tom, I like to go to school and learn new things. For me school and a new week is not conected to anxiety.

3. He pretend to be dying, he almost belived it himself and really symptoms appeared. He tells his aunt firstly that he has pain in his toe, secondly he claims that his tooth is hurting. His brother react greatly and belives that Tom is dying, the aunt on the otherhand is realaxed and do not really belive it.

4. She pulls out the tooth by using a silk thread and a chunk of fire.

5. Going to school was suddenly not very bad after all, after the tooth was removed he became the center of attention since he had a gap in his mouth. The other lads wanted to hang out with him.

6. I have never pretended to go to school just to do someting else instead, I would personally never do that. I do not think it is worth it, I think school is important and I think it is important to attend class.
