The invention of the steam engine by Thomas Savery marked the beginning of many more transportation machines to come. It was the first practical use of combustion and it developed a steam powered pump used to remove water. This invention is argued to be the most important development of the Industrial Revolution helping the advancement for future fields in mining, manufacturing, agriculture, and transportation. The machine was first used to help deal with flooding in mines, but later refined by British inventor, James Watt by adding an additional condensing chamber. This tool the steam engine to new levels incorporating it in not only mines, but cotton mills and waterworks as well. Finally, it led to the creation of the steam train and steam engined boat for efficient trade and transfer of goods.Añadido al timeline:
