Cuban Revolution occurred from (Jul 26, 1953 – Jan 1, 1959). On January 1, 1959, there was armed uprising in Cuba that overthrew the government of Batista. Fidel Castro was the revolution’s leader and ruled Cuba from 1959 to 2008. As a result of the Spanish-American War, control of Cuba passed from Spain to the United States on January 1, 1899. It was governed by U.S. military administration until May 20, 1902. Cubans filled more public offices than they had under Spanish rule with new sanitation and education.
