Obergefell v Hodges was a supreme court case that, in effect, legalized gay marriage in America. The case legalized gay marriage due to the justices on the court ruling that the denial of a marriage license to gay Americans violated the Fourteenth Amendment. This ruling marks the first legal acceptance of gay Americans and shows how far the LGBTQ community had come from even 20 years before 2015.
