The route taken by members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints from Illinois to their new head quarters in present day Salt Lake City Utah.- The original journey is 1846 -1847 included about 3,000 Mormons
- In all about 70,000 Mormons traveled west on the trail.
