When the People of Ammon refused to listen to the threats of the Zoramites, the Zoramites joined with the Lamanites and started to stir them up to go to war.
Now, the purpose in this war was to destroy the people of Ammon. As this was the known purpose, the People of Ammon left the Land of Jershon and dwelt in Melek for a short time.
This was done that the armies of the Nephites could prepare to meet the Lamanites and Zoramites in battle in Jershon.
