Pearl Harbor is an American naval base on the Hawaiian Island of Oahu. On December 7, 1939 an attack on this base from Japanese fighter pilots saw over 300 people lose their lives, the largest single day none war related tragedy in American history. It prompted the American to join WWII and fight against the axis powers. Until this point America had stayed neutral, but an attack on American soil was something that could not be ignored
