This act created the new states of Kansas and Nebraska. However, it also exempted them from the Missouri Compromise, allowing them to choose through popular sovereignty. This sparked the period of time known as
Bleeding Kansas, as many people began flocking to Kansas to influence the vote. This event led to the fall of the second 2 Party System, followed by the rise of the third before the Civil War
