After being defeated by the Nephites twice, the remainder of the Lamanites, being lead in their anger by the Amalekites, again began to attack the people of Anti-Nephi-Lehi. It seems that this attack was of a smaller scale, more like raiding parties along the borders.
This likely because their numbers were depleted by the recent wars. But it is also clear that they were planning a massive invasion to take place soon after.
