2 jul 1964 año - Civil Rights Act
Descripción:
The rising tide of civil rights agitation, such as the March on Washington, greatly influenced national opinion and resulted in the passage of the Civil Rights Act on July 2, 1964. The Civil Rights Act guaranteed equal voting rights, outlawed discrimination in restaurants, theaters, and other public accommodations involved in interstate commerce, and encouraged school desegregation. Although president Kennedy, who initially proposed the bill, was unable to get it through congress before his death, a stronger version was eventually passed by his successor, Lyndon B. Johnson.
