On May 13, 1607, after a lengthy voyage funded by the Virginia Company of London, settlers landed in what would become Jamestown. The beginning of economics in America can be traced back to the settlement of Jamestown. The colonists discovered that growing and selling tobacco was a lucrative, profitable business.
