Descripción:
To continue to grow their colony, the Jamestown settlers were in need of items to trade with the natives. John Rolfe was able to cross-breed tobacco and create an industry for the colony. The crop began to attract new settlers because of the profitability, and people moved westward to grow more tobacco. To sustain the crop, farmers took up indentured servitude. Indentured servitude consisted of English people that wished for a new life in the New World being bound to a farmer and paying with their labor. Key Concept 2.2.111
