Poor people didn’t want to leave their jobs for fear that the jobs would be taken by immigants or newly freed blacks before they got back from the war. Also, they didn’t like the fact that the rich dudes could get out of fighting with money. So unfair, dawg. Pretty much the poor whites get upset agian even though they are in a better situation than, idk, SLAVES.
