Discoverer 1 was the USA's first spy satellite, (clever name for a spy satellite). D-I was more of a test for the equipment rather than a full use spy satellite. it was launched by NASA and weighed 1362.46 pounds and was launched with a Thor rocket developed by Douglas Aircraft.
