Duke William II of Normandy (“William the Conqueror”) assembled a large army of French fighters. William was related to the Anglo-Saxon King Edward the Confessor, and after his death, William believed that he was the rightful heir to the throne. This was one of the reasons for the invasion of England. After invading England, William soon became the new King. (3.2)
