The start of the Great Depression is marked with the very sudden collapse of U.S. stock market prices on October 29, 1929, which is known as Black Tuesday. The Great Depression was a worldwide economic crisis that took place mostly during the 1930s. The Great Depression had devastating effects in countries rich and poor. Things such as personal income, tax revenue, profits and prices dropped. International trade dropped by over 50%. Unemployment in the United States went up to 25% and in some countries rose even as high as 33%.
