It was a naval engagement fought by the British Royal Navy against the combined fleets of French and Spanish Navies, during the war of the Third Coalition of the Napoleonic wars. A British fleet under Admiral Lord Nelson defeats a combined French and Spanish fleet at the battle. Fought off the coast of Spain, Nelson's last words after being informed that victory was imminent.
