I remember my youth. The lives we lived were good, sometimes great, and I don’t think they are coming back. I have such a longing for that time, knowing it will never come again, unfortunately. It takes me back 50 years.

it’s of a fading time. When I see the photos, it brings that time back, it’s a proof that it existed, that it was a reality. If there were only verbal recollections, I might think it never existed. I see the documentation that I made, over a period of the history of my country, Iraq, and that can be a reference for current and future generations.

I just can’t see beauty anymore. It doesn’t seem possible, not with all the images on television screens that are simply so shocking. I don’t see beauty as clearly now because there are too many ugly things happening in our reality. Beauty is present in my imagination only.
