In this year, Geneva, in current day Switzerland, but in the Holy Roman Empire during this time, became a Calvinist state. This was very influential because Geneva was originally was Catholic. When John Calvin managed to change a devout Catholic city into a Protestant one, the Protestant movement only got stronger.
