Rommel was accused of planning the assassination plot, and his home was visited by two of Hitler's war room generals. They offered him three options, to go to Hitler and testify himself, go to the People's Court, or take a cyanide pill, which would give him a full honor cemetery, and protect his family, and officers from execution. Rommel took the cyanide pill, and was buried on October 18th, 1944.
