(1620-1640) The Great Puritan migration was a time period where English Puritans flocked mainly to New England, but also to Chesapeake and the West Indies. The Puritans came to the New World in pursuit of religious freedom after being religiously persecuted in England. The Puritan Migration had the largest impact in establishing northern colonies such as New England and Massachusetts bay.
