1 ene 1767 año - Townshend Acts of 1767

Descripción:

A series of new taxes on several different commodities such as lead, oil, paper, etc.
Causes: Revenue still needed to be raised to pay debts and with the Stamp Act repealed the British Crown needed a new source of income. Charles Townshend imagined these taxes to pay colonial officials, which according to him would increase the loyalty to the British royals.
Historical Impact: Since the colonist had no say in the Act, they felt it was an abuse of power just like the Stamp Act before it. Therefore, anger towards the British Crown reignited in the colonies and Britain had to send troops to enforce the Act, which increased the tensions tenfold.
