Description: The Nullification Crisis was a conflict between South Carolina and the federal government, as Calhoun was trying to point that states had the privilege of voiding acts they felt were tyrannical.
Causes: John C. Calhoun's nullification doctrine, South Carolina Exposition and Protest, advocated that states had the authority to declare acts void if they view the power of the federal governmetn exceeds its powers. South Carolina also felt bounded down by the policies and acts being passed that were favorable for the northern industry and disliked in sourthrn agriculture.
Historical Impact: This sectional crisis would further a divided nation and help highlight southern views that they were being oppressed by the north.
