4 ene 1854 año - Kansas-Nebraska Act 4 jan 1854 (POLITICAL)

Descripción:

Proposed by Stephen A. Douglas, the Kansas-Nebraska Act allowed settlers of a territory to decide whether slavery would be allowed within a new state’s borders, also known as "popular sovereignty".
Causes - Organized the remaining territory acquired in the Louisiana Purchase so that such territories could be admitted to the Union as states. Since there was no way to decide whether it should be admitted as a slave state, they gave the mantle to the people inhabiting it.
Impact - The Act served to repeal the Missouri Compromise of 1820 which prohibited slavery north of latitude 36°30´.
