Parliament passed this act that allowed King Henry VIII to create the English church. The motives of this act was imbedded in the fact that Henry did not have an heir for his kingdom and deeply wished to forgo all the papal restrictions. In the following decades and centuries this would lead to many conflicts between the Catholics and Protestants of England. (Palmer 88)
