The formation of the Anabaptists was significant in history because it influenced other significant religious groups. The Anabaptists inspired the teachings of Quakers and Baptists. Core beliefs of Anabaptists include that people should only be baptized at an age where they can decide that they wish to be a Christian, that church and state should be separate and finally they refused to fight in wars. The Anabaptists were persecuted by both Catholics and Protestants, but survived to become the foundation for the Quakers and Baptists.
