8 jun 1999 año - Mulvey - Visual Pleasure and Narrative Cinema
Descripción:
Many video games overtly sexualize their female characters. This is just a blatant marketing strategy for getting young and horny guys to buy games and it has been for a while.
With Mulvey's writing on the male gaze in media, it is apparent that men like sex and sexy things. Whether it be movies, comics, or video games, a pinch of eroticism, or in some cases a truckload, can create a new dimension of appeal for the male market within the particular medium. As video games are interactive, it allows for creators to give players a way to experience a fantasy and envelop themselves in it. While some games have tried to seriously tackle this topic, few truly succeed in leaving an impression on their audience.
