31 oct 1517 año - Martin Luther's 95 theses
Descripción:
Martin Luther's posting of the 95 theses was significant in history because this event challenged the church in a way that it never had been before. Tetzel was trying to raise money to rebuild St. Peter's Cathedral by selling indulgences, which people believed could buy their way to heaven. Luther challenged this by writing the 95 theses and posting them on October 31, 1517. This move led to the Reformation, the movement for religious reform. The reformation also lead to the founding of Christian churches that did not accept pope authority. Luther led the reformation with his teachings that included: 1.People could win salvation only by faith in God's gift of forgiveness. 2. All church teachings should be based on the bible. 3. All of with faith were equal.
