Thomas More’s “Utopia” is a political satire meant to poke fun at political corruption in Europe and the heresy of the Catholic church. The book is about the people that live on an island called Utopia which means “no place” in Latin. This book helped to spark revolutionary ideas in the people and Europe and helped to fuel the reformation of the church. Thomas More was beheaded for treason and became a martyr when news of his death spread through Europe.
