South Carolina was first of the eleven southern states to secede after Lincoln was voted to President. They felt that Lincoln was against slavery and also againts the south. Lincoln said they did not have the right to leave the United States and he sent in troops to stop the South from leaving. That was the begin of the CIvil War.
