This war was between the United States and Mexico. The United State's goal was to expand it's territory and some of Mexico's northern provinces was in this goal. This made Mexico suspend diplomatic relations with the U.S. When Texas wanted to join the U.S., this led to a more divided nation which then led to the Civil War later on.
