This revolt was not unique, as there were several rebellions of its kind against the institution of plantation slavery in the Caribbean, but the Haitian Revolution the most successful. This had a great deal to do with the influence of the French Revolution, as it helped to inspire events in Haiti. The Haitian Revolution would go on to serve as a model for those affected by slavery throughout the world.
British occupation ended nominally with the UK's 1922 declaration of Egyptian independence, but British military domination of Egypt lasted until 1936. During British occupation and later control, Egypt developed into a regional commercial and trading destination.
War of Independence- The French navy blocked the harbor so the British could not retreat. Cornwallis surrendered. In 1783, the United States and Britain signed the Treaty of Paris to end the war. The United States had won its independence.
