After Solomon died, Israel was split into two parts around 900 B.C. Solomon’s descendants ruled the kingdom of Judah in the South. From the name Judah, Israelites religion was now called Judaism, and the descendants of Israelites became known as Jews. Kingdom in the North, kept the name of the Kingdom of Israel.
