Rudolph Virchow published his findings in the field of cellular pathology, in which he established the idea that the result of diseases was due to cells and which cells had been affected. Diseases attacked cells which caused them to malfunction. This discovery allowed medical practitioners to better understand the spread of disease and how to better control it.
