Treaty signed between the United States and the soviet union limiting the amount of anti-ballistic missiles each country could have as well ballistic missiles. The SALT treaty was the most far-reaching attempt to control nuclear weapons during the cold war. This event is mostly related to the concept of detente because tensions between the U.S. and the Soviet Union were eased due to limitations on nuclear weapons.
