In Response to Gandhi's article on Harijan about the state of education in India, the All india educational conference or the Wardha Conference was held on October 22 and 23, 1937.i. Key Figures (Actors/agents ) involved: Gandhi and Abdul Kalam Azad
ii. Main issue (like Anglo-vernacular controversy) : vernacular Education, free primary education for 7 years, the nature of education: western or gandhian
iii. Outcome : the committee headed by Azad taken into consideration Gandhi’s critique of modern education while keeping the necessary and good part of it. a report was submitted in which a balanced view of western and Gandhian education was envisaged for Indians which will be imparted in mother tongue and will give due importance to traditional indigenous knowledges
