1 ene 1856 año - Bleeding Kansas
Descripción:
Missouri senator David R. Atchinson encouraged Missouri residents to cross the border into Kansas and vote for crucial elections. The abolitionist New England Slave Society dispatched free-soilers to Kansas. However, a proslavery legislature was elected by border-crossers. Most Kansas residents and free soilers refused allegiance to the legislature. Both sides turned to violence and a local newspaper called it ‘Bleeding Kansas”. A proslavery forced burned the free-soil town of Lawrence. This resulted in even the most passive of the nation’s abolitionists to encourage violence.
