American astronaut Neil Armstrong became the first man to walk on the moon when Apollo 11 landed on the moon on July 20. This event is mostly related to the concept of deterrence because the U.S. progressed ahead of the Soviet Union in the space race, proving that they were ahead of them in technology. Through this event, the U.S. wanted to prevent the Soviet Union from attacking by proving that they were ahead of them in technology.
