Descripción:
The 18th-century toilette, the process of washing one's self, dressing, and attending to one's appearance, began with a heavy white foundation made from white lead, egg white, and a variety of other substances. This was overlaid with white powder (typically potato or rice powder), rouge, and deep red or cherry lip color.
The want for white skin showed that you were rich enough you didn't need to work outside in the sun for your living.
