Abstract:
One of the major concerns the authors
have had during self-evaluations of
teaching techniques have been the
the approach used in scoring student
programming assignments from computer
science programming language courses.
The criteria used by the authors have
included the correct output, use of a
structured design, program readability,
and output readability. A student program that had the correct output, that used a structured design, and was very readable in terms of the program listing and appropriate labelling of output was assigned the total points for the assignment. Points were subtracted only when the four criteria were not met . The scheme described simply differentiated between those programs that met the criteria and those that did not.
