2 nov 1718 año - Murder of Blackbeard
Descripción:
On November 2, 1718, Blackbeard was defeated by Alexander Spotswood. He was the current governor of Virginia, and wanted piracy to end. He was not happy with the pardon, and believed that the only reason pirates were still there was the lax government presence. He secretly joined with the British Navy and sent the Virginia Militia into Carolina. They shot Blackbeard 5 times and stabbed him 20 times. He was decapitated and his body was thrown overboard. Their ship had Blackbeard's head hanging off of it, captained by Robert Maynard. Although the British government did not approve of looking uncivilized, he received a 100 pound bounty and became a hero. Benjamin Franklin wrote a song in his honour. It is rumoured that Blackbeard's ghost haunts Springer's Island, and there is a memorial for his birthday every year. In 1995 the Queens Revenge was located near North Carolina.
