Salva learns to speak English, goes to college, and finds out that a lot of things are different in America than Sudan. He stays in Rochester for 6 years with his new mother and father. But Salva later finds out that his biological father is still alive in a hospital in Southern Sudan. He travels to Sudan to look for him. (Chap. 16)
