Helen proves how smart she is at the age of six, by befriending her family's cook. She at this point in her life couldn't see or hear but managed to create a language with the little girl where they could "talk". This friendship lasted until helen became too mad that not anyone else could talk to her and she began throwing fits at the girl as well as her family.
