The St. Bartholomew's Day massacre was a clash between the Catholics of France and the Huguenots. It consisted of the Catholics acting very violent towards the Huguenots. This lasted for about 3 days and it was the turning point in the french wars of religion. This fits into the theme of States and other Institutes of power because it showed how government was affected by the religions of France and how the people did not want change.
